This weather has sure been tricky lately! I’ve been piling on layers, stripping them off throughout the day, constantly checking to see if it’s going to be rainy and 32 degrees, or sunny and 70. Bipolar- to say the least. If you don’t believe in climate change, my sinuses will tell you otherwise.
This weekend felt very spring-like {rain included} and it was nice to be able to pull out a few skirts that I’ve put on hold for a while! Without even planning it, I ended up wearing two of my leather skirts- one for a night out to dinner and drinks in Fells last night, the other for a yummy brunch in Fed this morning. Tonight I’m sharing what I paired each with for the different occasions!
Today is the last day of Restaurant Week in Baltimore, and we made sure to take full advantage of it to try some new spots! Mike and I are total foodies, and we’re still in the process of trying to find our “spots” here. The food scene in Philly was prime- but we are finding a lot of great spots here as well! Last night we ventured to City Cafe in Mt. Vernon, and we planned to head to Barcocina in Fells afterward for some drinks {side note: finally discovered that I actually do love whiskey and I’m pretty excited about that.}
I wanted to show some skin since the weather was warmer throughout the day, and after visiting my newly organized closet I knew exactly what I was revolving my look around: My new favorite black bodysuit from Zara. I’m a sucker for high neck anything and fun sleeves, {a big trend on the rise for 2017!} so when I spotted this one a month ago I knew I had to snatch it up. After rummaging through my skirt drawer, I decided to go with a deep wine-colored leather pencil with a side slit from Loft.
I hate to repeat exact outfit pairings but I’m definitely wearing this one again soon! It all went perfectly together, and my favorite black lace-up heels from Aldo pulled the outfit together perfectly. Kept the jewelry simple with a pair of oversized studs since each piece was pretty textured and bold in different ways. Such a huge fan of this look!
After a few too many Jamo & Gingers, I woke up this morning {hangover free, miraculously} with one word on my mind- you guessed it: brunch.
I knew Liv2eat, our hands down favorite spot in Fed, had an amazing brunch menu set up for Restaurant Week, so I begged Mike to get up and going so we could snag a mimosa and some comfort eats to start the day. The sun was shining as soon as I woke up, so I knew I wanted to take advantage of the weather once again. I also knew as soon as I started waking Michael up that if I wanted brunch, I would need to get ready somewhat fast {something I’m just not the best at…but I’m getting better!} I had bought a comfy, lightweight oatmeal-colored turtleneck from Zara on Saturday that I knew was easy access, still in the bag right when I walked into my closet. Then a light went off in my head: it goes perfectly with my new pleated black leather skirt from J. Crew I got for Christmas that I haven’t had the chance to wear yet. Boom. Put it on quick, found my black suede knee-high boots, tossed some makeup essentials into my black leather LV, and threw on my tortoiseshell watch and monogrammed necklace to tone down the black. Brunch ready.
A weekend well spent and well dressed. Wearing leather is somehow always more challenging for me- maybe because it seems like a bold move, or because it takes some time for me to find a pairing that I really like with it- but this weekend I lucked out two days in a row rocking it! Cannot wait to see what else I can put together with these pieces.
Hope you all had a relaxing weekend and are ready to take on Monday! Don’t forget to pull out those pieces you’re nervous to try, or haven’t found the right complimentary piece. Give it time and don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone! You’ll be glad you did š
